Healthy Eating Tips for a Healthy Body

Healthy eating does not mean diet! The key to healthy eating for a healthy body is to follow a food plan that you can stick with for the rest of your life.

Healthy eating for a healthy body can be as simple as increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat on a daily basis. The most important thing is to eat the correct variety of foods, and swap the bad foods for better, healthier alternatives.

When it comes to healthy eating follow these basic rules.

  • Be adventurous in food shopping. There are probably varieties of fruits and vegetables at your local grocery store that you never even tried before. One way to make healthy foods appealing is to buy a wide variety of exotic fruits and vegetables at your local market.
  • Experiment with your cooking and try out new recipes. This is another great way to bring excitement and adventure to healthy eating. There are 100’s of low fat or healthy eating cookbooks packed with many tasty and exciting recipes to try.
  • Presentation. Make your healthy choices look as appealing as they will taste. Have some fun and plate-up your food as you would expect it to be at a restaurant.
  • Swap full fat food options for less fat variations and:

– Swap whole milk with skim or 2%, both in recipes and for drinking
– Swap full fat ice cream for sorbet or low fat frozen yogurt
– Swap cooking with butter or margarine with spraying pans with nonfat cooking spray
– Swap high fat cuts of meat with leaner ones
– Swap red meat for fish

Whatever your goal, if it’s to get fit, lose weight or to adopt healthy eating for a healthy body you will notice significant health improvements when you start to make the changes we have suggested above permanent.

Depriving yourself of your favorite foods can be counterproductive to a long term dietary change. Deprivation leads inevitably to cravings, and that can start a vicious cycle of dieting and splurging.

It is best to think of healthy eating as a lifestyle choice you are making for a lifelong change. The way you shop, cook and dine out will also change.
