Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures

Considering cosmetic surgery to improve your appearance?  Don’t just think of traditional cosmetic surgery procedures, like breast enlargements, facelifts, and liposuction to help you.  It could be time to visit a cosmetic dentist to help you improve the appearance of your teeth and smile.

Cosmetic dentists specialize in the appearance of teeth, not just the health of them.  This article outlines some of the most common dentistry procedures.
Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures

A gum lift

The appearance of your teeth may not be the main problem.  If you have uneven or excess gums, your teeth may look uneven and possibly even crooked.  In this case, a gum lift could be advised to remove your excess gum to reveal an even, flawless smile.

Veneers are increasing in popularity and are most suited to those who have imperfections with their teeth such as cracked teeth, crooked teeth, or teeth with a significant amount of staining.  Each tooth is resized and reshaped, and then a mold is taken of the “new,” tooth.  In the laboratory a custom mold is created which will be used to bond to your reshaped tooth.

Dental implants

Dental implants look and feel just like real teeth and provide an ideal solution to anyone

with a missing tooth or a tooth that needs to be pulled and where the rest of your teeth are healthy. With dental implants, an artificial tooth is securely anchored into the jaw bone or the gums.

Professional teeth whitening

This procedure can whiten teeth and reduce stains often caused from drinking coffee, red wine, smoking, and/or aging. Brilliant dazzling white teeth can be achieved by using a high intensity light along with 35% hydrogen peroxide to whiten teeth within an hour.   At- home teeth whitening is another method where special teeth molds are made to fit your mouth.  Worn during sleep or 1-2 hours per day, the molds are filled with 20% carbamine peroxide gel to whiten teeth over time.

Tooth colored fillings

Gone are the days of metal fillings to repair cavities. Today, the common choice of filling is tooth colored and your cosmetic dentist uses a colored coded chart to create a perfect match.

Teeth alignment

Thankfully, plastic braces have replaced the ugly metal braces of days gone by used to correct teeth alignment.   For many, an invisible mouthpiece is all that is required to correct teeth bite.

Advancements in cosmetic dentistry procedures such as the use of high-speed drills, anesthesia, sedation and the materials used to coat to fill, cap or crown a tooth means that the trauma, pain and anxiety associated with dental visits of the past are greatly reduced.

A healthy, beautiful smile can be yours.  You may even notice a significant improvement in your self-esteem and self-confidence.
