Quality Of Life With Allergies

Having allergies can greatly affect your quality of life depending on what type of allergy you have and how severe your symptoms are.

In this article we’re going to focus on some tips for you to enjoy a quality of life with allergies.

Millions of people suffer from allergies.

Quality Of Life With AllergiesThere are all types of allergies, allergies to dust and pollen, bee stings, mold,  animal dander and certain types of foods.  If you love your food, but suffer from being intolerant to some foods then eating out can provide some challenges.

If your allergy manifests in the spring-time then simply being outdoors and breathing in pollen can be debilitating too.

If your symptoms are severe enough and your medication brings little or no relief perhaps there are some very effective home remedies that you can use to eliminate, or at least diminish, your reliance on expensive and side-effect laden prescription and over the counter drugs that may even rid you of your allergy symptoms altogether.

1.     Take Vitamins

Taking a daily dose of Vitamin E is believed to help increase your body’s ability to fight off allergens.

Vitamin C can also have a positive effect in improving allergy symptoms. Sufferers of hay fever and asthma who take Vitamin C report that it helps the body counteract the inflammation responses that result from the condition and reduces the severity of sinus stuffiness and a runny nose.

Vitamin B also plays an important role in the proper functioning of the adrenal glands and helps your body produce natural cortisone to counteract allergens thereby reducing allergic symptoms.

Taking Vitamins A and D in cod liver or halibut liver oil capsules  or simply adding a few drops of castor oil to a half cup of juice or water are believed to help alleviate your allergy symptoms.

2. Fatty Acids and Herbs

Essential fatty acids (EFA) such as omega-3 can also play an important role in maintaining good immune system health, and relieve allergic reactions.
Herbs, garlic, echinacea and quercetin are safe and effective treatments for sinus reactions, including allergies, asthma, and hay fever.

3. Minerals

Calcium and magnesium, Sulfur and zinc are all important nutrients for an allergy sufferer as they help to relax an over-reactive nervous system.

4. Furnace Filters

Use furnace filters in your furnace and replace them as recommended by the manufacturer for allergy relief.

5.    Counteract Mold

Use a bleach water solution in any areas of your home that tend to get damp to help eliminate the growth of mould.

6.    Pet Dander

Groom your pets regularly by washing and brushing. Your pets will love the one on one time with you too.

  1. Replace Carpets
If you can, replace your carpets with wood or tile flooring as carpets can be magnets for dust and dander.
  2. Keep your pets away from your bedroom
It is important your bedroom is an allergy free zone so that you can be fully rested and get the sleep you need.
  3. Wash your bedding in hot water
Make sure to frequently wash all of your bedding in hot water.  This is another place that dust mites and dander can really build up fast, and since this is also where you sleep it’s very important to keep it as free of dust as possible.
  4. Wear a mask when working outdoors
When cutting the grass or working outdoors consider wearing a mask.

Whether you are looking for something to relieve your allergy symptoms or eliminate your allergies altogether, these tips may enable you to focus more on your quality of life with allergies and provide you with some much needed relief.  Use one, or all, of the tips on this list and keep looking until you find the combination that works best for you.
