This will not keep your skin moist but is essential to maintain the body’s fluid balance and prevent dehydration. This requires drinking between 2- 2.5 litres (or 6-8 cups) of fluid per day.

2. Cleanse your skin regularly

Cleansing 1-2 times everyday helps in getting rid of traces of dead skin cells, dirt and bacteria, pollutants, make-up and congestion in the pores. Avoid the use of soap on your face.

3. Handle skin gently

Don’t scrub/exfoliate too hard or too often. Do not tissues to remove make-up as they are too harsh and may scratch and stretch the skin surface. Use cotton pads instead and only rinse with cool/warm water.

4. Keep your skin moist

Your skin loses natural moisture through evaporation, exposure to central heating and air conditioning. To avoid your skin drying out and keep it smooth and supple it needs a topical moisturizing cream to prevent further moisture loss.

5. Use sunscreen everyday

Protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV radiations. The damaged caused by exposure to UV rays is the single greatest cause of wrinkles and photo-aged skin. You can use day-time moisturizers that have sunscreen built into them but ideally a separate sunblock should be applied every day, even on cloudy days.

6. Exercise

Exercise increases circulation and lymphatic flow, which helps improve skin condition and color. Exercise can also help in beating stress and will help you get a good night’s sleep.

7. Avoid smoking

Every cigarette is doing your body and skin harm. Smoking deprives the skin of vital nutrients and oxygen and activates harmful free radicals. This weakens collagen and elastin fibres causing thickening of the skin and the early formation of deep wrinkles.

8. Consume essential Vitamins

Your skin needs all the necessary vitamins, minerals and nutrients to fully function. Vitamin A keeps the skin heathy and prevents it from becoming dry. Vitamin C is important for collagen production and Vitamin E hydrates the skin and supports wound healing.

9. Treat skin concerns early

This skin care tip is about not ignoring any skin conditions or concerns. Consult with your doctor or dermatologist before it becomes more difficult to treat.

10. Know your skin type
