Benefits of Microdermabrasion

Skin Health Hub Skin Health What is Microdermabrasion? As we age, the rate at which our skin sloughs off dead skin cells continues to decline. This can culminate in a build-up of hardened cells on the surface of the skin if we do nothing to intervene. However, by using exfoliation methods we can manually remove and correct any build-up. The effects of exfoliation are highly effective in improving:

• Fine lines & wrinkles
• Acne- scarred skin
• Skin congestion
• Microcirculation
• Pigmentation and age spots
• The skin’s ability to absorb the active ingredients of moisturisers into the epidermis.

Traditionally, exfoliation was achieved using cleansing products containing tiny course granules or oatmeal to buff away dead skin cells. This process advancing to include handpiece brush cleansing tools and abrasive sponges.

In more recent times, fruit peels, chemical peels, alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA’s), and microdermabrasion used as effective exfoliation treatments, has only been available as clinic or salon treatments as they have required expertize from the hands of dermatologists and therapists in beauty salons and specialist skin clinics.
